Location, location, location is the key, dandara says

When it comes to selecting a plot for a self build it has been said that "location is everything".

David Bates, business development manager at the firm, says that anyone who does their homework can pick up some great deals at the moment.

For self builders to capitalise on their investment they should ask themselves the following questions: "What is the economic growth and outlook for that particular area? Is there a population growth forecast? What employment opportunities are there?"

He says that these are all the things that should be considered when looking for a plot of land.

Mr Bates also urges potential buyers to look at the nearby transport links, hospitals and universities to get the most out of their purchase.

Nationwide has recently reported that house prices have fallen by 13.9 per cent in the past 12 months with the average property now valued at £158,442.
