Loft conversion the most 'cost-effective way to create space'

Converting a loft is reportedly the most economically viable way to create space in a home.
Properties built before the 1960s usually have a timber roof structure so these types of dwelling lend themselves better to conversions, organisers of the South West Homebuilding and Renovating Show claim.
Anyone considering creating space this way are advised to start with a floor plan that shows how much of the loft has clear headroom of 2.3 metres or more, as this will show which places you can stand up in.
"Do not forget you can enlarge a loft space with dormer windows or by changing to a mansard roof," the show's representative suggested.
Andrew Skipwith, co-founder of the website RatedPeople.com, has claimed that loft conversions are becoming more popular this year and can augment a property's value by 15 per cent if it is done to a high standard.
