Loft conversions 'can add 15% to a home's value'

A loft conversion can help homeowners and investors add value to their properties, it has been claimed.
Around 15 per cent could be added to a house's value with a loft conversion, according to Andrew Skipwith, co-founder of RatedPeople.com.
In addition to the financial benefits, he also suggests that people may want to take advantage of the extra space provided by such a change, which could incorporate a very large bedroom with an en suite bathroom or a couple of bedrooms.
"If it's done right, it can be a pretty shrewd investment," Mr Skipwith said, adding that "it has got to be done right" to be truly beneficial.
"Certainly with a major piece of work like a loft conversion
you really don't want to be messing around with people who you don't trust to do a good job for you," he commented.
