Loft lagging hits 'record numbers'

The number of homeowners lagging their loft in an attempt to slash fuel bills has hit record levels, according to new figures.
Market research group GfK claimed there has been a 40 per cent jump in the amount of loft insulation sold between June and August, compared to last year, the Telegraph reported.
Jeremy Bird, managing director of Wickes, told the newspaper that "lagging your loft has always been one of the best ways to save money".
Mr Bird added that the return on investment is "pretty quick".
The Telegraph suggested that the average yearly gas and electricity bill has climbed from just under £1,000 to more than £1,400 since the start of the year, which has led to many householders taking action, or planning to install measures, to reduce the cost.
According to Jon McGowan of the Energy Saving Trust, around half of a home's heat loss is through the walls and loft.
