London commuters ''heading to Thanet''

The newest property hotspots in the UK are Ramsgate and Thanet which are both within the south-east corner of Kent, according to one property expert.

Cooke & Co Estate Agents have reported an exponential increase in demand for properties in these areas which are both around 70 miles from London and situated along the coast.

Bernard Hinton, from the agency, said: "Ramsgate in particular and Thanet in general is going through a massive regeneration programme.

"We are getting a lot of interest from outside of Thanet buying into the area because it is still relatively low prices."

He added that the Fastlink railway is coming soon to Ramsgate which will link it to the Olympic Games sites and St Pancras station in London which will make journey times in London decrease from two hours to 70 minutes.

The M2 which goes into the Medway area has also been widened so more people can get to Thanet from London.
