Making energy efficiency ''available to all''

Micro regeneration schemes where you convert your home to a den of energy efficiency needn''t be the preserve of the rich, according to one expert.
David Meehan, from the Department for Trade and Industry, says that the growing popularity of these sorts of schemes where you make your home greener means that the process of such ideas will soon decrease.
The government aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50 per cent by 2050 and launched a Microgeneration Strategy last March.
Mr Meehan said: "You have to be reasonably well off to afford to install these things but I think prices are coming down.
"For example, wind turbines, you can buy them in the high street now."
He said if green technologies become standard for new builds and large-scale projects then prices should soon come down and microgeneration will no longer be just for the wealthy.
Increased energy efficiency also means that property values should go up and you will also save money on energy bills.
