Meter will 'show the benefits of self build'

Those who embark on a self build can now see how green their home is, it has emerged.

UKPower.co.uk has developed an online meter that will help consumers follow their energy costs and show them just how much money their innovative solutions, such as sedum roofs and sheep wool insulation, are saving them.

The website will allow self builders to prepare for their energy bills as the Smart Meter calculates the expected costs of their usage.

Graham Self, director at UKPower.co.uk, said consumers will be armed with information to challenge suppliers about enlarged direct debit payments as they can track their costs.

He added: "This will help consumers to budget more effectively as they will be able to monitor energy costs rather than waiting for bills to come through the door.

Meanwhile, British Eco Energy claims that wind turbines can provide "one of the most cost-effective" forms of alternative energy.
