Microgeneration grants only for 'very keen'

The likelihood of Britons to receive green home improvement grants from the government is very slim and only the very keen are likely to succeed in their applications, according to some experts.
David Matthews, the executive of the Solar Trade Association, warns that now the government's grants for microgeneration are so well-publicised, there is likely to be far more demand than can be met by the government's pot.
"The Low Carbon Building Programme has reached the national press and because of that the general public is far more aware of the grant scheme. That is a positive step likely to bring in more applications," he said.
A report by the Energy Savings Trust says that mini wind turbines, solar panels and other microgeneration tools will be providing a significant portion of the UK's energy needs by 2050.
Producing your own energy can save you money by reducing energy bills, help the environment by reducing carbon emissions and provide you with a source of back-up power.
