Microgenerator experiment 'to alleviate fuel poverty'

One electricity supplier has now conceded that fuel poverty is a big problem in the UK and it has allowed poor families to trial microgenerators in order to ease their energy bill burden.
National Energy Action (NEA) has got together with npower to launch an experiment which will see seven families in the West Midlands having microgenerator equipment installed in their homes.
This will hopefully bring down their need to have energy supplied by the grid and will alleviate the problem of fuel poverty in the UK.
Arthur Scott, from NEA, said: "It is really positive to see energy suppliers supporting microgeneration technology and their vulnerable customers.
"NEA is looking forward to starting this project with npower and hope that it will be the start of many more micro-generation projects in the future."
Technologies such as ground source heat pumps, solar thermal, biomass and air source heat pumps will be fitted in the homes.
