More Britons turning to DIY

A new study has found that not only are more and more Britons turning to DIY, but that increasing numbers are attracted by the prospect of improving their skills.
Research by Yahoo! Answers has revealed that 92 per cent of respondents want to learn and develop the ability to carry out DIY tasks effectively, with almost half wanting to become similarly able when it comes to home improvements in general or gardening.
Doctors and nurses were found to be the group most eager to adapt to DIY ways, with even 28 per cent of builders saying they wished they were more able at do-it-yourself tasks around the home.
DIY efforts are adding around £5,000 to each home via conversions and renovations, it was advised earlier this month. Separate research has found that attractive gardens could add as much as 12 per cent to more expensive properties.
