More Britons turning to renovation

Last week a study from Zurich Insurance found that 14 per cent of home movers said they changed location in order to get involved in the decorating and renovation of a new property, but the majority of Britons aged 30-50 are happy to engage in such pursuits while staying put, according to new research from Standard Life Bank.
The study shows that three quarters of such Britons are put off from moving by the cost of the process, with a third believing that renovating their property will add value.
Furthermore, one in ten renovators has said that they have added entire rooms to their properties.
"With just one in ten homeowners in their 30s and 40s saying they plan to move house soon, the property ladder as we know it is set for a shake up," commented Standard Life Bank trends expert Ashley Ramsay.
"Savvy homeowners appreciate that their property is a valuable asset and investing time, effort and money could be worthwhile," Ms Ramsay added.
