New organisation to professionalise property industry

Two of the UK''s biggest property bodies have voted to merge following a series of meetings.
The Association of Residential Lettings Agents (RLA) and the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) will continue to work in their individual areas but will amalgamate to bring mutual support to members.
The reason given by both associations is the benefits in terms of cost efficiency, but the two professional bodies will keep their own names plus their own distinctive branding and culture.
Malcolm Harrison, spokesperson for the ARLA, explained the importance of the two regulatory institutions for everyday Britons.
He said: "Both organisations are professional bodies which means that they have to deal with government, they have to safeguard the consumer and they''ve very involved in training."
The new National Federation of Property Professionals will be a formidable force in the property market and will professionalise the residential property industry by providing a more rounded service to the consumer.
