New software to aid green building design

Computer software could be the key to development successful green buildings, it has emerged.

Autodesk's new software aids green building design by making 3D drafting applications, reports CNET.com.

Some 70 per cent of respondents to a survey by the software firm claimed that demand for energy-efficient buildings that cut material waste and cost less to operate is increasing among clients.

Indoor air quality, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions are measured through the software's sustainability dashboard, according to the news provider.

Autodesk vice president Phil Bernstein said: "We want to find ways that we can move the building industry forward."

Additional software to aid the design of green buildings presented at the Greenbuild convention last week was reportedly revealed by Green Building Studio, Lucid Design Group and Agile Waves.

Building projects can be better explored for their validity and impact through the concept of design visualisation, Autodesk reports on its website.
