NFB reports record income levels

The National Federation of Builders (NFB) has announced its annual income figures, revealing a record surplus of £300,000.

That figure will be re-invested within the organisation, the NFB has said, with overall income of £3.5 million representing its "strongest set of financial results to date", Contract Journal has reported.

Income growth amounted to eight per cent, in part due to higher turnover from member firms but also because of the NFB's own business interests.

The NFB is nonetheless looking at implementing "a more effective policy operation", chief executive Julia Evans declared, according to the online journal.

Current construction targets are 60,000 short of the government's aim of building 200,000 per year, the Home Builders Federation has advised.

But Gordon Brown has pledged to tackle the problem, saying that he would work with both the private sector and housing associations in order to boost the number of affordable homes on the market.
