Noise still a grievance for neighbours

A new study by Halifax has revealed that more than a quarter of Britons have had disputes with their neighbours in the past, with noise still the most common cause of complaint.
According to the research, 26 per cent of respondents said they have had such disputes in the past, with 26 per cent of this number saying that excess noise was to blame.
The study also appeared to confirm existing beliefs regarding the rowdier younger generations, with those aged 16 to 24 found to be most likely to have had a disagreement in the past 12 months 49 per cent saying they had done so.
Renovations or extensions were also the cause of some problems between neighbours, the study added.
"It's [
] important to remember that any formal disputes will have to be declared on a 'Seller's Property Information Form' when you come to sell your home. Ensuring good neighbourly relations is always a prudent measure that way unpleasant situations can be prevented," advised Halifax Estate Agents managing director Colin Kemp.
Sellers with a home with three or more bedrooms must also now pay for a Home information pack (Hip) before they are able to sell their property.
