Norfolk eco-town is not "done deal"

Housing minister Caroline Flint has dismissed speculation her visit to a proposed Norfolk eco-town site signaled confirmation building will go ahead.

Ms Flint met with developers at the former RAF Coltishall airbase earlier this week but insists the trip was as much to hear campaigners' views too.

Speaking after the discussions, she said: "I hope these meetings have helped to quell some of the myths that have been circulating. There is certainly no 'done deal' for developers and I think today's meeting has helped underline that fact."

The Coltishall site is currently on a list of 15 possible venues for ten new eco-friendly communities to be built by 2020.

As well as the government initiative, house buyers looking for green homes should also consider constructing a self-build property.

The advice comes for those in the south-west particularly, after news the blueprint for the region's only proposed eco-town - Cornwall's Imerys China Clay Community scheme - has been slammed for failing to provide viable motor transport alternatives.ADNFCR-833-ID-18657813-ADNFCR
