Number of private property sales increases

Privately conducted house sales are on the rise and will continue to increase in number over the next few years, according to a new report.

Property sales without the aid of estate agents are growing in popularity said the owner of property website thelittlehousecompany.co.uk Martin Charlick. He said that now the internet is more wide spread, the popularity of private sales in increasing.

He estimates that around ten per cent of all UK property sales are now conducted privately but it is hard to break the conditioning that says using an estate agent is the best way to sell property.

Mr Charlick said: "There are something like 200 property websites in the UK, most of which are hobby sites. And that''s partly to blame for the slow uptake, because people are confused."

He explained that it is currently difficult for Brits to distinguish between who is good and professional and who is a waste of space.
