Olympic Village ''should have a wind farm''

A wind farm is what is needed for London''s 2012 Olympic Village, according to one property expert.
Sunand Prasad, from the Royal Institute of British Architects, said that there are many options for how developers can make the village greener. He said it may costs a little extra but sustainable development at the site is definitely possible.
He said an offshore wind farm could be funded by the Olympic Village because "it would be a source of clean electricity".
The Olympic Village has a target of being 25 per cent more energy efficient than the average home is at the moment but Mr Prasad says it is possible to build totally green zero carbon housing today if developers are prepared to cover the higher costs.
He added: "The technology is there it needs to be improved and it will go on improving and it will be able to improve things more."
He thinks planners should commit to a zero carbon village now before it gets to 2011 and it is too late.
