Over 200 homes 'to be built on greenbelt'

Over 200 homes

A lengthy planning debate has finally been resolved in favour of a firm looking to build on greenbeltland, it has been revealed.

The appeal by Anglo International was won following intervention from the government, according to local media reports.

Around 200 apartments will now be built on land in Up Holland, Lancashire, the Champion news website has reported.

"The Secretary of State concludes that securing the future of the listed building constitutes a very special circumstance that would justify inappropriate development in the greenbelt, and justify granting planning permission," a report on the issue states, the Champion reveals.

"The Secretary of State is satisfied that the proposed enabling development is the minimum required to ensure the restoration and re-use of the listed building, and that the special interest of the listed building would be preserved," the report adds.

Last week Lincat Group also secured planning approval for a greenbeltsite in Hertfordshire.
