Period of your property 'dictates its energy efficiency'

A new report has revealed that the age of your property will dictate what measures you will need to put in place to ensure it is energy efficient.
Surveyors in a fleet of cars have been roaming up and down the country recently taking thermal images of homes to work out what can be done to reduce carbon emissions at the property, according to the Times.
A recent survey by B&Q has reportedly revealed that being aware of how old your home is will give you a better understanding of what energy-efficiency measures need to be installed.
For example, homes built before 1919 - which represents around 20 per cent of all British properties - are of solid wall construction so cavity wall insulation is not a viable option.
However, B&Q suggests that lofts can be insulated and draught-proofing is the best solution to reducing heat loss in these dwellings.
Homes are responsible for more than a quarter of the UK's total carbon dioxide emissions.
