Persimmon secures brownfield site

Persimmon Homes has announced that it has secured more than one and a quarter acres worth of brownfield land for development in Grantham.
The firm has also succeeded in gaining planning permission for the site, which is worth around £3 million and will see 15 homes built in the area.

A demand for new build homes in the region will see work begin on the site almost straight away, Persimmon revealed.

"In this particular area of Grantham, there is an extremely strong demand for quality new build homes," commented Persimmon Homes East Midlands managing director Adrian Morgan.

"We are firmly committed to utilising brownfield land as not only does it provide wider land buying opportunities but former redundant sites can be transformed into thriving and active communities," Mr Morgan added.

Prime minister Gordon Brown said earlier this year that the government would commit to helping local authorities build more homes on brownfield land.
