'Plan your own Grand Design' with new software

A new series of software is being developed that will allow people to create their own house designs, it has been reported.
The software will be marketed under the Grand Designs television brand and will allow builders and amateur designers to create a visual interpretation of their own Grand Designs project, according to Licensing.biz.
Packages such as self build and development and kitchen and bathroom will be included in the software range, the website claimed.
FreemantleMedia Enterprises will team up with Eleco Visualisation Software for the new collection.
Dan Naylor, chief executive of Eleco, said the product is launching at an "ideal time" in a market where homeowners are "increasingly looking to improve their existing property" rather than purchase a new home.
"We hope that our software allows increasing numbers of consumers to visualise their ideas and perhaps even start their own Grand Designs," he added.
Kevin McCloud, the presenter of Grand Designs, operates his own product design practice and specialises in lighting and furniture, according to Channel 4.
