Planning changes 'not a great idea'

The Conservative MP for Basingstoke Maria Miller has hit out at changes made by the government to house planning in the area.
Ms Miller said that the alterations have not been greatly considered because money is still required to ensure that the targets already in place are met, reports the Basingstoke Gazette.
Secretary of state for communities and local government Hazel Blears recommended that 945 new properties are built in the region on a yearly basis, more than the amount drawn up by local inspectors under the South East Plan.
"It has got to be bad news when the secretary of state comes back and inflates the house-building target," she told the paper.
Council leader of the borough Andrew Finney added that he will continue to try and ensure that the correct level of funding is in place so the new buildings can be constructed.
This week, similar opposition to Oxfordshire house-building proposals was seen from the council.
Those unsure about any of these planned developments may wish to enter into the self build market.
