Price rise predicted for Manchester's west side

The western suburbs of Manchester could be in line for an increase in house prices, it has been reported.
Property firm Prospect has predicted that the trend will occur due to the BBC moving several departments up to the Media City complex in Salford Quays, which it says will lead to many TV personalities seeking homes in the area to be close to their new workplace, Virtual Manchester reports.
The BBC is also spending £16.5 million to help staff relocate from the current London base when the move takes place.
An increase in the cost of property in the area may make self build a cheaper option for some seeking their own home.
The BBC has been credited with raising the prices of homes in a city before, with research by Halifax last year finding that Oxford had seen prices rise 40 per cent faster than the UK average during the 20 years that the Inspector Morse drama was running.
It was believed that Oxford attracted more buyers due to the image of the city that the series conveyed.
