Prince in eco-house blow

The Prince of Wales has run into criticism over his new eco-home plan after critics suggested it might fail to be carbon neutral.
Known for his environmental interests, the future monarch is planning to create such a home from entirely natural materials like timber and stone, leaving substances such as plastic out of the design.
However, this has led to the home, which is to be constructed at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in Watford, being lined up for an eco-homes rating of just three or four, rather than the maximum six, according to the BRE's director of enterprise and innovation Jaya Skandamoorthy, the Guardian reports.
The reason is that without synthetic materials for insulation the home will be too draughty and consequently not as energy efficient as other eco-homes.
Such concerns may be considered by those looking at the self build of their own eco-home.
Meanwhile, Newswire has reported that an award-winning eco-home in Cambridge Massachusetts has been constructed using recycled copper as one of its main components.
