Property shows 'have opened homeowners eyes'

The string of television shows now dedicated to propertyrenovation and decoration have made homeowners aware of the number of home improvement possibilities available to them, but owners should give due consideration to what they are getting themselves into, one interior designer has advised.
Those with little experience of interior design should take care to not simply imitate what they see on such shows, as suitable styles vary wildly between different properties, g a design owner head Geertje Anderson has suggested.
"The best thing about property TV shows must be the fact that it has brought about awareness it has opened peoples eyes and minds," Ms Anderson noted.
"The danger is that people now think they possess the confidence and knowledge to do it yourself; a property TV show is not an interior design course.
"People will imitate what they see without realizing that they may be working with a different style property
. so the mistakes made could be tremendous," Ms Anderson added.
