''Protect your home improvements'' with insurance

Home improvements should be protected like any other investment according to the British Insurance Brokers'' Association (Biba).
The busiest period for Brits embarking on home improvements is upon us, according to research by Biba, with an anticipated £57 billion to be spent on revamping UK properties over the next six months.
Average spend per person is £6,400 with over £1,000 being spent on tradesmen.
Peter Staddon, Biba''s head of technical services, said: "Home improvements can make a huge difference to the cost of our properties and quality of life.
"We save up all year so that we can afford to pay for this work, and it is vital that these changes are covered by our insurance policies."
Mr Staddon recommended that consumers talk to their insurance brokers to guarantee that any home improvements they have made are covered by their home insurance.
Some 1.2 million households in this country spend over £10,000 per year on home improvements.
