Regeneration attempts differ across UK

One property expert has outlined the differing approaches taken across the UK towards urban regeneration and the impact this has on property in the locations.
Pierre Williams, head of communications at Instant Access Property which specialises in education would-be property investors, has found that the south of England''s regeneration plans meet with more criticism than plans in the north.
The government has come up with four growth areas in the south including Milton Keynes, the Thames Gateway, Ashford and Kent and the M11 corridor.
In these areas there are plans to improve infrastructure and build new homes as well as to regenerate derelict potential sites.
Meanwhile, northern regeneration is geared towards the city centres and demolishing and replacing poor quality Victorian housing stock in Liverpool, Bolton, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Mr Williams added that investors are typically attracted to areas of regeneration such as the Thames gateway.
He said: "When the Jubilee Line was opened areas like Bermondsey and right across to Stratford shot up in value."
