Regeneration is a 'positive move'

Regeneration is the direction in which much of the property industry is moving and making use of disused buildings and brownfield land is very much a "positive move", according to experts.
The British Property Foundation says that regeneration is a real solution to the housing crisis and that anything which brings land back into use is a positive thing.
"This misconception of development only being on greenbelt land and rural countryside is a bit of a myth really. Most development is actually carried out on brownfield land," said Andrew Teacher, a spokesperson from the federation.
Ruth Kelly, the communities secretary, announced earlier this week that she is considering plans for disused public buildings to be sold to community groups for as little as £1 as long as it can be proved that the sale would benefit the local peoples.
Buildings like old swimming pools and hospitals would be transformed into community centres to boost civic spirit, said Ms Kelly.
