Renovation grants offered to homeowners

The value of renovation has been highlighted by an offer of grants to homeowners to help them improve their properties.
People living in older homes in conservation areas of Hartlepool (defined as those built before 1919) will be able to apply for grants from a £75,000 budget, the Press Association reports.
Those carrying out work such as improving home energy efficiency can claim half the cost of the work up to a maximum grant amount of £5,000.
Eight different areas across the east coast town are eligible for the scheme.
Whether they are able to get grants for home renovation or not, homeowners considering making their dwellings better, larger or simply more energy efficient may find the answers they are looking for at the Renovation A-Z weekend later this month.
Last week Homemove.com reported that this event will take place at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon on the weekend of May 24th and 25th.
