Renovation recommended as a way of making house more saleable

Home renovation is a great way for householders to make a home look more attractive when they are looking to sell it, an estate agent has said.
Paul Smith, chief executive of haart, recommended such renovations should take into account issues such as lighting, colour and cleanliness, as well as state of repair.
He suggested: "Why not look at investing in some new lighting? Some subtle lighting can have a huge impact on the way your house looks and feels."
Ensuring neutral colours were applied and damaged appliances such as dripping taps and cracked tiles were fixed was also important, he added.
Those looking to carry out home renovation may look to engage expert advice on materials and techniques before embarking on such work.
On average, the current time taken to sell a house is just over 20 weeks, according to the latest figures from the National Association of Estate Agents.
