Renovators 'need more help' to install renewable energy sources

Renovators

Homeowners intent on making green renovations to their properties should be given greater assistance with regard to planning permission.

This is the claim of Andrew Moore, British Eco Energy's managing director, who suggested more needs to be done in order to remove potential obstacles out of the way of those looking to add wind turbines to their self build or existing houses.

"We need to look at the planning permission laws and help people to put them up more quickly or more easily," he remarked.

His comments were made in response to criticism of the Committee on Climate Change's recent report for putting too much emphasis on wind as an alternative form of emery.

Mr Moore claimed "wind is a natural choice", although solar hot water systems could also provide benefits to people trying to make their homes more eco-friendly.

According to a study by the Energy Saving Trust, 45 per cent of people in the UK would like advice on how best to make green improvements to their houses.
