Repossessions on the rise

New figures have indicated that the number of repossessions is not only rising but that the risk of more occurring is growing.
In the Warwickshire towns of Bedworth and Nuneaton the number of households facing the loss of the roof over their heads has increased to 80 per month, the Coventry Telegraph reports.
The first three months of the year saw Nuneaton County Court issuing 239 mortgage possession orders, an increase of a third on the first quarter of 2007.
Across the midlands, a similar situation emerged in Northamptonshire, reports the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.
During the first quarter of the year the number of repossession orders reached 321, up 31 per cent on last year, according to government figures.
Those looking to avoid taking a mortgage which may be difficult to repay could opt for the self build method of getting a house, or carry out home renovations instead of seeking to take another step up the housing ladder.
