Retrofitting housing questions 'set to be answered'

According to the Low Carbon Trust, there are many concerns about whether homes constructed before the 1930s can be brought into the 21st century.
The need to retrofit existing housing is a hot topic and many people are questioning whether older existing homes can be brought up to modern sustainable requirements.
In conjunction with the Royal Institute of British Architects Southeast division, the trust is hosting a housing retrofit event on November 11th to explore the challenges faced by those that are planning to renovate existing properties and land and turn them into a dream ecohome.
The conference during the day costs £150 to attend and will include an array of speakers, case studies and debates regarding the latest housing techniques and technologies.
However, the evening part of the event is free and visitors will be able to bend the ear of local professionals, manufacturers and suppliers, the trust claimed.
The Energy Saving Trust has revealed that the average household could save close to £300 every year by making their home greener.
