Scotland in house price rise

Those living in Scotland who are keen to obtain a home through self build means and then watch its value grow may be heartened by news that prices are rising again.
Lloyds TSB Scotland reported that prices in Scotland had encountered a rare dip in the fourth quarter of 2007, but said the average house price increased by 2.3 per cent in the first three months of this year.
This made the average house price in Scotland £163,639, with the south-east (excluding Edinburgh) seeing the biggest rise at 9.4 per cent.
All the main cities saw prices rise apart from Dundee, while on an annual basis the north remained the best-performing region and Aberdeen the top city.
Figures revealed this week by HBOS based on Registrars of Scotland data showed that the location with the most house sales worth over £1 million last year was Edinburgh, accounting for 148 of the Scottish total of 343.
