Self-build home in just 12 weeks

A self-build home which was created in just 12 weeks has gone on show at the new National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon.
The house was built by self-build specialists Potton Homes and features all the modern conveniences of a top technological spec combined with a traditional exterior. Named after UK culture writer John Ruskin, it is on show at the centre which is located in Swindon.
One of the biggest features of the house is its ability to be altered which means that an extra bedroom can be feasibly created out of a very roomy upstairs landing.
Joe Martoccia, the sales director of Potton Homes, said: "The floor plans can be altered thanks to our unique tried and tested aisle and frame construction system, this allows customers to move or even remove walls to create homes to suit their own specific lifestyles."
He added that the firm has a range of about 120 design options so flexibility and a personal touch to the home are guaranteed.
The National Self-Build Centre was opened by DIY supremo Tommy Walsh at the beginning of February with members of the public able to learn all about planning, financing and building their own homes.
