Self Build Saturday series starts soon

A new event for self builders or those considering self build will take place in October.

Self Build Saturday will be held on October 25th in Leamington Spa and will aim to give builders a better understanding of sustainable products and renewable technologies, the Builders Merchants Journal has reported.

The free day at the Sustainable Building Centre (SBC) will run from 10am to 4pm and will show visitors a wide range of sustainable options for their planned building or development.

UK building group Wolseley will host the event and its account managers will work alongside the SBC team and suppliers to offer expert advice on eco-friendly self build projects.

Tim Pollard, Wolseley's head of sustainability, said: "The SBC is very striking and contemporary, and illustrates that 'going green' doesn't mean self builders have to compromise on a stylish look and feel of their home."

The Builders Merchants Journal also reported that in June Wolseley invited designer Wayne Hemingway to speak at the opening of the SBC, a 6,800 sq ft building that acts as a showcase for sustainable products and methods.
