Self builds in Isle of Man 'recommended'
Published: 18/12/2008

Deciding to self build a property in the Isle of Man could be a wise move, according to developer dandara.
David Bates, business development manager at dandara, says that the self buildproperty could initially be put up for let as there is a "very strong" rental market there.
Because a lot of people move to the island for two or three years, companies "pay the individual's rent."
He also points out that in the last downturn between 1989 and 1991, the UK saw its house prices fall by 24 per cent, while during the same period property in the Isle of Man went up 100 per cent.
Anyone who chooses to buy a plot there can buy it to live in it, use it as a holiday home or build it to use as an investment because of the strong yields that are available.
