Simple ecohome improvements tips released

Anyone who wants to create an ecohome on a budget that cannot accommodate wind turbines and lamb's wool insulation can follow some newly published advice.
Susan Emmet in the Times claims anyone who jumped on the stripped wood floors bandwagon will find it hard to cut their fuel bills due to draughts but a simple, cheap rug can help matters.
Ms Emmet suggests that plantation blinds are "more suited to the steamy climate of the American Deep South" so recommends full-length curtains as a better way of "keeping out the cold".
She claims that a plumber in London will charge around £200 to fit thermostatic radiator valves in a four-bedroom home but they can be bought from a specialist for just £8 each and help "to control room temperatures more effectively".
The Energy Saving Trust claims that that by turning down a thermostat by one degree C can save up to £65 on a heating bill.
