Solar-powered homes are to be a reality in the UK very soon with currently 20,000 British homes already having solar panels or photovoltaic tiles which provide them with hot water and central heating.

Surrey is the first UK county to sign up to plans for all new-builds to have ten per cent of their energy from renewable sources, including solar power.
