Spring clean the eco way

It is time to give your home its traditional spring spruce-up and here are some top tips for an eco-friendly clean-up at your home.

Using natural cleaning products means that there are fewer toxic chemicals in your property so mix water and white vinegar in equal parts to make a mirror and window cleaning spray. Newspaper sprayed with this mixture will produce a sparkling finish.

For cleaning the toilet, some baking powder sprinkled into the bowel and left overnight then scrubbed with a brush should work wonders.

White vinegar is again a useful tool for cleaning stains on carpets and upholstery when mixed with washing up liquid and water then sprayed on stains, scrubbed and rinsed with water.

To get rid of any nasty whiffs in ovens or microwaves, just leave a few slices of lemon in a bowl of water and then turn the implement on a high heat for a few minutes.
