Tiny flat sells for £170,000

It was reported earlier this month that the average property price in every UK county has surpassed £100,000 but a flat which measures 11 by seven feet in London is currently being offered at an even larger sum of £170,000.

The flat is the size of a snooker table and used to be a handyman''s store cupboard but it has now been put on the market as a cosy and bijou spot in the middle of Knightsbridge.

Estate agent Lane Fox says the room without a window is depressingly dark but is a catch because it is a stone''s throw away from Harrods, Sloane Square and Hyde Park.

Situated on exclusive Cadogan Place, it is extremely dilapidated and has no bathroom or kitchen yet it has already received three bids.

Andrew Scott, who is charged with selling it, said: "If you thought of it as a cabin on a boat, you''d say ''it is pretty spacious''."

The trendy Chelsea bolthole was originally designed to be a maid''s room.
