Top tips for interior design

Lifestyle Interiors, a designer used by Miller Homes to furnish its show homes, has offered several top tips on how homeowners can keep their property feeling fresh without constantly redecorating.
The key to 'home enhancement' is making the smaller changes count, says Elaine Gore, director of Lifestyle Interiors. It is best to stick with simple neutral colours on the walls such as greys and whites.
More vogue colours can be implanted by adding cushions, curtains or even a wallpapered feature wall. The fashionable colours for spring are greens, such as mint and jade.
It is also a good idea to keep the layout of a room as simple and clutter-free as possible, with a few pieces of furniture to spice things up a bit.
"The interior design world goes hand in hand with the fashion industry," Ms Gore notes.
"The style and textures change along with the seasons, although it would be financially impossible to change your style each season so, the popular home enhancements movement that homeowners are now interested in, is a cost effective way of keeping your home decor fresh and up-to-date."
New research from Halifax Credit Card shows that the UK spent £13.5 billion on furniture and furnishings in 2005.
