A study by the Royal Mail has revealed that home movers in the UK are migrating to the English coastline.

The Royal Mail's list of top ten most desirable areas, calculated by net moves, contains nine counties with a coastline.

According to the study of mail redirection requests between January and June, almost 25,500 movers headed to be beside the seaside.

The most desirable area to move to is Kent, followed by West Sussex and Devon, the study found.

Results of the survey could be closely looked at by people considering a self buildproperty in a desirable location.

Colin Bradshaw, head of data strategy at Royal Mail, said that the service receives more than one million requests every year from movers wishing to redirect their post.

"This gives us unique insight into the movement trends in the UK and allows us to identify the affect the economy has on the property market and also identify property hotspots," he added.

A recent study by researchers at Sheffield and Manchester universities revealed that Powys in Wales was the happiest place to live in the UK, according to the BBC.ADNFCR-833-ID-18765672-ADNFCR
