Underfloor heating an "excellent" space-saving solution

Anyone short of space on a self build project should consider underfloor heating, it has been reported.
Bruce Allen, chief executive of official body HETAS [Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme], stated that under the right circumstances underfloor heating can be "equally effective" in both new and existing dwellings.
One of the benefits of such a heating system is that it is not exclusive to any one fuel or other, Mr Allen claimed.
"In some circumstances underfloor systems offer an excellent solution - where there is no space for radiators or the occupier does not want the wall space taken up," he added.
The Domestic Heating Market report for 2007 estimated that the sector generated £1.81 billion in terms of manufacturers' selling prices in 2006, which equated to an increase of 1.7 per cent over the previous year.
A recent study by MTW Research revealed that the UK underfloor heating industry is set to exceed a net worth of £300 million this year with the sector forecast to experience healthy growth rates until at least 2012.
