Vertical gardens

Builders with limited space could try converting a bland outside wall into a lush, leafy garden, according to the Times.

The newspaper suggested that cladding a building will turn a boring bring facade in to a rich tapestry of colours.

Furthermore, it was reported that vertical gardens are also a viable ecofriendly solution as the greenery acts as an insulator and can help slash the temperature fluctuation of a property by nearly 50 per cent.

Lucy Hall of Gardeners' World Magazine has claimed that a "reasonably large-sized garden" can add up to 20 per cent to the overall value of the property so it could be vital to any homeowners planning on redeveloping their property to make the most of whatever space they have.

Ms Hall added that families in particular are "crying out for safe and private space."

According to the Guardian, Britain spends around £4 billion on flowers, plants, garden tools and garden accessories every year.
