Wales 'leads the way' in solar powered heating

Those looking to self build an eco-home to high environmental standards should find the answers in Wales, it has been claimed.
Rhyl-based Anwyl Construction is pioneering a solar heated hot water system that will ensure that water is warmed through solar panels fitted in homes, the Green Building Press reports.
The new installation, which is being fitted in two of the 127 homes the company is constructing in a new housing development in Saltney, is an example of how Wales is ahead of England in this technology, commercial director Bryn Roberts said.
He commented: "Wales is actually leading the way by intending to bring in regulations making it a requirement on new homes by 2011, while in England it won't be in force until 2015."
Yesterday, the BBC reported that a number of UK households are using solar heating to cut electricity bills and heat water, noting that 78,400 had such appliances installed in 2006, according to government figures.
