Water butts ''beat the hosepipe ban''

If this hot weather continues then a hosepipe ban could well be on the cards this summer but you can beat the ban by harvesting rain water.
Water butt sales have reportedly tripled during the last month at DIY stores and according to a Which? survey, two-thirds of Brits already have one in their garden.
They range from about £18 to £240 in price and some are aesthetically pleasing enough to become a garden feature, rather than being traditionally hidden behind walls and sheds. One such example is the Sankey Beehive Water Butt.
You can buy different capacities depending on the size of your garden and the range is 100 to 700 litres. Once you''ve decided on size, you should consider how fast you want the water to flow and how close to the ground you want the tap. Try the Harcostar Space Sava.
The lower down it is then the more likely it is to become blocked and to avoid debris getting in to your water butt you should make sure the lid fits well. For a child-proof butt with a tight lid try the Sankey Slim.
