Welsh have ''last chance'' to fix building errors

Published: 27/03/2007

Welsh have

Building constructors in Wales need to make the most of the opportunity to regenerate areas of the country.

According to Bob Croydon, partner in charge of the Cardiff arm of property consultants King Sturge, a "prolonged period" of low interest rates has led to a property market "awash with money".

Various parts of Wales, including the four main centres of Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Wrexham are experiencing a great deal of change as a result of new projects on building sites.

Some £3.5 billion is being invested in new projects; however, Mr Croydon believes that constructors have to strike while the iron is hot before rising material costs make such works prohibitive.

The 2012 London Olympics are also being identified as a threat to new developments on land in Wales, with skilled workers and materials potentially being used for the games in the capital.
