Welsh planning officials aim to boost rural housing

Planning officials in Wales have held talks with councils in Powys as part of an effort to boost the supply of affordable rural housing in the region, it has been reported.
Powys Council members said that energy efficiency would be an essential part of any new properties that were built, with developers urged to use the likes of solar power in any new projects, the BBC has said.
The news body revealed that estate agents, planning consultants, solicitors and housing associations were among those who attended the meeting.
Last month plans for almost 70 new homes in the region were unveiled the largest such development for several years.
"The association has been fortunate to be able to work closely with Powys and Ceredigion county councils to secure appropriate developmentland in areas where there is strong demand for a range of house sizes from single person apartments and cottages to larger four-bedroom family homes," commented John Green of the Mid Wales housing Association, speaking to the BBC.
